Unprotected sex can include missing more than 2 tablets of birth control in a week, sex without contraception, or a condom that slipped, broke, or leaked.

Emergency contraception is a type of medication that can prevent unplanned pregnancy when used as soon as possible after unprotected sex.

There are two types of morning after pills. Progestin containing pills. Ullipristal acetate.

Does Emergency Contraception become less effective if you use it often?

No emergency contraception does not become less effective when you use it frequently! However it is not as effective as using a birth control method regularly and it can be more expensive than birth control!

Should I still take a pregnancy test?

If there is a delay in the onset of your next menstrual period beyond 1 week, the possibility of pregnancy should be considered and a pregnancy test is recommended.

Can I take emergency contraception if I’m breastfeeding?

Do not breastfeed your baby for one week after taking ella (ullipristal acetate). During this time, pump and discard your breast milk in order to stimulate and maintain milk supply.
