Hair loss occurring from medications are usually only temporary. However, in some medications, the hair loss may be permanent.
Here are some of the most common medications that can cause hair loss:
- Isotretinoin (Accutane, Clarus, Epuris) are acne medications derived from Vitamin A
- Prescription antibiotics can deplete your Vitamin B as well as your hemoglobin, disrupting hair growth and leading to temporary hair thinning.
- In some rare cases, antidepressants and mood stabilizers can cause hair loss as well.
- Chemotherapy drugs which are used to treat certain types of autoimmune illness and cancer can cause a form of hair loss called anagen effluvium.
