In general, a weight loss of up to 2lbs per week is what helps prevent major losses in muscle, and decreases in metabolic rate.
So, based on how much you’re aiming to lose you can take your current weight subtract your goal weight and divide by 2.
That will tell you the number of weeks it’ll take at the max rate of weight loss per week.
For example: if you're 250lbs now and would like to get to 175lbs: 250 - 175 = 75lbs to lose divided by a max of 2lbs per week = 37.5 weeks.
